Douglas Reynolds, Ph.D.

Vice President, Assessment Technology

Doug leads research, development, and early product launch for DDI’s assessment products and solutions. His department is focused on the design and implementation of new behavioral and psychological assessments used for workforce selection, career development, and executive succession management. He has designed and implemented large-scale assessments and tests with Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies.

More recently, his work has focused on the creation and deployment of Internet–based behavioral simulations used for executive and leadership evaluation. Doug also has served as an expert witness regarding personnel selection practices, and he has published and presented frequently on topics related to the automation of screening and testing for job selection.

Thought Leadership

  • Doug has contributed to the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, HR Executive and Military Psychology. 
  • Doug is also a frequent presenter at national and local professional events such as the annual conferences for the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Association of Test Publishers.
  • He co-authored Online Recruiting and Selection, a book on the integration of technology with personnel selection practices.
  • Doug is also co-editor of the Handbook of Workplace Assessment, a  volume in SIOP’s Professional Practice Series.
  • He currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Management.
  • Doug is active in SIOP leadership, currently serving on the Executive Board.

Career Highlights 

  • Doug designed and developed some of the first Internet-based job application and qualification screening instruments used for large-scale corporate recruiting.
  • Doug joined DDI in 1996 as a senior consultant responsible for DDI’s Testing, Simulations, and Surveys group where he managed the development, validation, and implementation of a wide variety of assessments.
  • Prior to joining DDI, he was a senior scientist at the Human Resources Research Organization, where he directed personnel research and development projects for the U.S. government and military as well as for private sector organizations.
  • Doug directed a team of social scientists in the evaluation of an alternative approach to human resources management at a large federal agency. His team produced a yearly report for the U.S. Congress regarding this effort.
  • Doug also served as adjunct faculty at George Washington University.
