Vice President, Leadership Development
Jim Concelman is Vice President of Leadership Development for Development Dimensions International (DDI).
For more than 20 years, Jim has helped organizations identify, develop and leverage their leadership talent by implementing leadership development systems. Recently Jim’s research and consulting has focused on equipping frontline leaders and middle managers to drive strategy execution and employee engagement. He also manages Interaction Management: Exceptional Leaders . . . Extraordinary Results® (IM: EX®), winner of Human Resource Executive's TopTraining program award.
Jim has written a number of articles for national and industry publications, as well as white papers, and has presented at industry conferences on leadership development issues.
Thought Leadership:
- Co-author, “The Perfect Storm or Just a Shower,” an article on the impending leadership shortage and strategies and tactics for accelerating the performance of new leaders in T+D magazine.
- Co-presented at American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) International Conference and Exposition in 2007 with Campbell’s.
- Co-author, “Creating a Culture for Engagement,” an article on the importance of, and best practices for, creating higher levels of employee engagement in Workforce Performance Solutions magazine.
- Author, “The People Leader Imperatives,” a white paper detailing the seven essential capabilities—or imperatives—effective leaders must master.
Career Highlights
- Jim designed and implemented a frontline leadership development program for a major hospital, a culture change initiative for an academic medical center, and a weeklong strategic leadership development conference for high-potential senior managers at a major professional services firm.
- He has also consulted on the development of an entry and middle management competency model for a global beverage company, which is used as the foundation for leadership development, performance management, and selection.
- He led a multidisciplinary client project team and DDI’s Research and Product Development group.
- Before joining DDI, Jim spent 10 years at Mellon Financial Corporation in operations and wholesale banking.
