
GKNNeed:Faced with changes brought on by the global economic downturn and other challenges impacting the aerospace and automotive manufacturing industries, GKN needed to ensure that it was doing as effective a job as possible in identifying its high-potential leaders and targeting their individual development needs.
Solution:GKN identified six criteria to guide the selection of the high-potentials, including performance in an individual's current role, adherence to GKN leadership competencies and values, and international mobility. To accurately assess high-potential candidates against these criteria, GKN sent them through a DDI Acceleration Center®. The Acceleration Center® included "day in the life" simulations designed to measure performance in those competencies most critical to GKN's business strategy. DDI assessment professionals analyzed each candidate's performance in the simulations and provided extensive feedback.
Results:Feedback from the Acceleration Centers® provided GKN with detailed data on each high-potential leadership candidate's strengths and areas for development. DDI was also able to use the data gathered through the Acceleration Center® to help GKN benchmark its high-potentials against those of other multinational businesses.
