Douglas Reynolds, Ph.D.

Doug Reynolds combines his extensive expertise in the development and application of assessment in organizations with his experience in technology to lead DDI’s product development and technology groups. These departments are accountable for the design and implementation of new behavioral and psychological assessments used for workforce selection, career development, and executive succession management.

As Chief Technology Officer, Doug manages all aspects of DDI technology, including the development and support of DDI’s technology-based products as well as a global delivery infrastructure. In his prior consulting roles, Doug designed and implemented large-scale assessments and tests with Fortune 500 companies and federal agencies. Most recently, he worked on the creation and deployment of Internet–based behavioral simulations used for executive and leadership evaluation.

He is a frequent invited speaker and author on the nexus of assessment and Internet technologies. Doug serves as an expert witness regarding personnel selection practices.

Thought Leadership

  • Doug is active in the leadership of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), serving as President (2012-13) and in other roles on the Executive Board (2009-2014).
  • Doug was co-editor of the Handbook of Workplace Assessment, a volume in SIOP’s Professional Practice Series, and winner of the Academy of Human Resource Development’s Book of the Year Award.
  • He co-authored Online Recruiting and Selection, a book on the integration of technology with personnel selection practices.
  • Doug has contributed to the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, Human Resource Executive, and Military Psychology
  • He currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Management.
  • Doug is a frequent presenter at national professional conferences on his work in assessment, technology, and regulatory issues.

Career Highlights

  • Doug and his teams have designed and deployed technology-based testing products such as DDI’s Career Batteries, Insight Inventories, the Test Advantage System, and automated assessment center products such as Assessing Talent® and Manager Ready®.
  • Doug served on the SIOP executive board and chaired multiple committees and task forces focused on advancing the application of organizational psychology in the workplace.
  • Doug designed and developed some of the first Internet-based job application and qualification screening instruments used for large-scale corporate recruiting in the late 1990s.
  • Doug joined DDI in 1996 as a senior consultant responsible for DDI’s testing, simulations, and surveys group where he managed the development, validation, and implementation of a wide variety of assessments for multinational corporations.
  • Prior to joining DDI, he was a senior scientist at the Human Resources Research Organization, where he directed personnel research and development projects for the U.S. government and military as well as for private sector organizations.
  • Doug also served as adjunct faculty at George Washington University.
