Tacy Byham, Ph.D.

Tacy M. Byham, Ph.D., is Chief Executive Officer of Development Dimensions International (DDI). Since its founding in 1970, DDI has grown to become a leading and innovative global human resources consultancy with more than 1,000 talented associates, serving a diverse roster of clients across 93 countries. 

In addition to overseeing the organization's day-to-day operations, Tacy is spearheading DDI's increased strategic focus on its core of leadership insight and growth.

During her more than 20 years at DDI, Tacy has led multiple strategic initiatives, including the creation of DDI’s Executive Development Practice and award-winning frontline leader development programs. She also managed the development of succession management programs and corporate universities for key clients.

Tacy is the co-author of the acclaimed book, Your First Leadership Job: How Catalyst Leaders Bring Out the Best in Others, and has penned multiple book chapters and blogs on various leadership topics. She is also an energetic, thought-provoking presenter at industry conferences and events including: annual presentations at ATD (formerly ASTD) International Conference; The Conference Board events on Talent Management and Leadership Development; SIOP; and the International Congress on Assessment Center Methods, where she speaks on topics ranging from innovation, managing the middle, the arrival of unprepared leaders, harnessing the power of manager support, and sustainability efforts to move from training to impact.

In addition, Tacy advocates for mentoring and other issues facing working women and speaks on the topic #LeadLikeAGirl for numerous global corporations. She is passionate about empowering all leaders to declare their true worth and ignite impact in the workplace, from the start of their careers all the way to the C-Suite.

Career Highlights

  • Led DDI’s Leadership Solutions group, including flagship products Interaction Management®: Exceptional Leaders Series (IM:ExL), OPAL® and Leadership Mirror®.
  • Managed the design and launch of one of DDI's fastest growing products, Business Impact Leadership®, which drives action-oriented alignment of senior leaders and middle managers relative to organizational business imperatives.
  • Architect of corporate leadership universities and translating the “What’s and the "When’s” of the Leadership Pipeline philosophy into “How’s” for DDI’s clients.
  • Held a variety of roles in the organization, including executive assessment, succession management and organizational leadership transformation.
  • Worked and lived two years abroad as a master trainer of leadership solutions for clients in Europe and the U.S.
