DDI adds strategies for contemporary talent acquisition to its widely-used interviewing system
The hiring interview remains one of the most consistently used business practices, utilized by nearly every company in every industry around the world. But as business changes, so does the key personnel decision-making tool, so DDI has redesigned TS, its widely-used structured behavioral interviewing system.
“The new Targeted Selection is about more than conducting better interviews—it’s about getting the best candidates into your company and keeping them,” said Scott Erker, Senior Vice President of Selection Solutions for DDI. “DDI has been a leader in behavioral interviewing with the widespread use of Targeted Selection over the last 35 years, and the new TS will draw on our decades of experience in hiring while addressing the issues that businesses face today in talent acquisition.”
Originally introduced in 1974, TS was the first stand-alone behavioral interviewing system with
EEO compliance. Today, TS continues to be more than behavioral interviewing—it sets the standard for how companies conduct interviews and make decisions about candidates. More than 27 million interviews are conducted every year using TS.
With the advent of recruiting technology, more public information about companies and the hiring process, organizations have seen an influx in candidates applying for jobs, as well as increased candidate awareness about the hiring experience. Now with fewer open jobs, organizations are under pressure to make the best possible hiring decisions. TS can help make better decisions about every open position—as well as internal promotions and assignments.
“Even in tough economic times, companies have to focus on hiring the best candidate for every open job,” Erker said. “DDI is dedicated to helping companies learn how to use the interview to get the best information about candidates, make the most informed decision, land the candidate they want and give them the best possible start.”
In addition to providing structure for interviewers to make better hiring decisions and reducing the risk of employment legal challenges, the new TS addresses interviewing for technical skills, guiding new hires off to a strong start and getting the right candidate to say ‘yes.’ The redesign of TS reduces training time by half, uses a discovery learning approach, increases skill practice and coaching and is adapted for the specific needs of industries and job functions including health care, manufacturing, sales as well as professional positions.
