The last War for Talent was only a skirmish for many organizations because the Great Recession stalled growth (and thus the need for new people) and frightened many older workers into staying longer in their jobs. Now we face a new War for Talent and the need to manage retirements. Retirement Management isn’t about talking people out of retiring or leaving the organization to do other things, such as starting their own businesses. Instead, it’s about giving a select number of highly valued potential retirees, those who would like to continue contributing to their present organization’s success, the opportunity and accommodations to do so. Ultimately, retirement management is about organizations growing more successful by better utilizing their seasoned talent.
