Canadian Utility BC Hydro lights up their business goals with high-quality frontline leaders. Manager of Leadership and Professional Development Christy Innes led the creation of a robust nine-month-long process. It molds successful individual contributors—plucked from the power lines—into leaders who have what it takes to be successful on the front lines. Development is accomplished with a mix of formal training, role playing, webinars, and other modalities that instill skills while minimizing travel needs for this geographically dispersed organization.
The feedback we’ve been receiving has been wonderful,” says Innes. “Our frontline managers are saying ‘boy oh boy, I’ve been in this role for a couple of years. I sure wish I had this when I started!’ I’m really excited to continue along the journey and our partnership with DDI.”
