Targeting the right size pool to maximize high-potential engagement and retention

High-potential leaders are an organization’s fortunate few, tapped based on a combination of current performance and future potential. They are the focus of devoted energies and attention well beyond that of leaders not designated as high potentials. High-potential programs also are nearly universal for MNCs, 81 percent of which have these programs in place. Despite the prevalence and prominence of high-potential programs at MNCs, their results are mixed. Only one-third of MNCs consider these programs highly effective.
