What’s the Best Way to Waste $50 Billion?

By Richard S. Wellins, Ph.D.

Organizations spend $50 billion a year developing their leaders. But are they seeing a return on that investment?

And what about best practices? Are they really best practices are or are they, instead, common practices?

I address these questions in this video, drawing on the new research guide “Leadership Practices: What’s Proven. What’s ‘Worth Less,’” which I co-wrote with Evan Sinar, Ph.D., DDI’s chief scientist

The guide exams 19 leadership practices across eight categories using data included in DDI’s Leadership Databank of more than 62,000 leaders and HR professionals from more than 2,400 organizations.

I encourage you to explore the guide and find out which leadership practices are truly backed by research and which you should stop doing or avoid altogether.
